Here comes....Hanabi!

Natsu - summer - is well and truly here...
...and that means just one thing:

Fire Flowers! (Or
Hanabi)

Tomorrow night is the annual Sumida-gawa Hanabi Taikai (The Sumida River Fireworks Display). About 20 000 fireworks will explode in a spectacular fashion over the Sumida River...and a couple of hundred thousand spectactors will be celebrating on the riverbank. Most of them will be wearing yukatas and 99.98% will be drinking beer and chowing down on excellent festival food like takoyaki and yakitori...I can hardly wait!

So, if you are in Tokyo...head on down to the Asakusa area by 7:10pm, and be ready to be gobsmacked...

Antonia: I hope you get here some day!

    Liz: I won't make any promises...but we'll see!

Bearette: You got it! You've obviously read a lot of Brit Chick Lit in your time :D

Shephard: Oompa Loompa...thanks for stopping by; I'll be sure to nibble on some yakitori for you!

Janet: You've hit on exactly what is so great about blogging...viewing the world through others!

Vickee: I live for matsuri...I love how everyone chills out and has a brilliant time...so different to how stressed people usually look on the trains! And thanks!

MF: You haven't seen fireworks till you've seen them in Asia...way, way, way better than anything I've ever seen in Oz...and although the money could be spent on "better" things...for me it's not a waste as they are an integral part of the community joining together and celebrating life...while watching a spectacular light show :D
