Contrasts...
Japan is home to ancient traditions like sumo, geisha, kimono, shinto, shrines and temples. Which is all fine and dandy, but, fortunately for me it also has its fair share of weirdness such as the giant beer building in Asakusa:
(Doesn't it look delicious?!
Taken while on the Tobu train crossing over the bridge.)
Look at the frothy head...is your mouth watering yet?!

The top floor of the building has a bar with one of the best views of the Tokyo skyline - the coolest part is that you can say you had a drink in giant beer froth!
One of the weirdest things in Tokyo is the Golden Poo:

I think you can work out which item above is affectionately known as the Golden Poo...and perhaps even why it's called that. I've heard that the designer intended it to represent the frothy head on a glass of beer. Now I don't know what kind of beer he drank; but I've never had one that even remotely resembled this interpretation! Personally, I think that the beer building is a far more accurate representation of a frothy head.
What's your tipple of pleasure?

I'm not a beer drinker at all. Bring on a nice cabernet, please.
But the photos are great. Very unusual design.

This is a kind of cubist beer. Or maybe he'd been testing extensively before he drew the picture.
The golden poo is not a great advertisement for the Asahi beer. Philippe Starck must have been having a laugh - Unchi Biiru, maybe?

What the heck? Let me guess - the artist got a trillion yen to build that thing!
The golden building, however, is amazing. I imagine that it would shimmer in the afternoon light.
Tipple of pleasure? Depends on the day and the weather and my mood - Guinness on some days and red wine on others, and ouzo on others.

Latest drink of choice when I have the energy to make is a Cosmopolitan. But a James Squires Pilsener hits the spot.
I have to say that beer foth building is a site to behold. Different, but good.
Now, I just have to ask, I've been meaning to for a while, but who is Michele? She seems to send a lot of people your way!

MF: It does shimmer and looks stunning! Ouzo! I love ouzo ;)
Nutmeg: A Cosmopolitan is always welcome! Michele has a "weekend comment game" where you visit other blogs and say hi...go to micheleagnew.com for more details. It's a good way to "meet" new people!

a nice Asahi is always good, or Sapporo...ice cold, of course! The golden poo looks more like what happens when one drinks too MUCH beer lol!

In weather like this ( steaming hot ), an ice cold beer is the only thing that quenches my thirst.
I drink it light if i'm going to be having a few, but I prefer a James Squire Pilsener myself.
Other than that, it's cold white wine - a NZ Sav Blanc for laughing around the BBQ on hot days, and a nice bottle of red for the colder snuggling months.
I don't 'do' spirits well, but I love my wine & beer ! :)
