Let me out!
These images were in my inbox today, and I just had to share them!
Giant Pandas are known as "Da xiong mao" or "Giant Bear Cat" in China and are a symbol of peace.
Baby Pandas weigh less than an apple when they are born!
Pandas are mostly shy and spend most of their lives alone.

Bearette: They usually give birth to 2 pandas, but generally only one survives...I hope they both make it!

I hope they make it too! I would love to pat a panda, though I'm told they're not soft :(

It's D.C.'s very own... Tai Shan. Or, as he was dubiously nicknamed shortly after his birth, "Butterstick." Seems he was about the same length and weight as an 8 oz. stick of butter at birth. Tai Shan just celebrated his first birthday a few weeks ago. It'll be a sad day next year when he has to be returned to China.
