Samaritaine

I was really looking forward to visiting the Samaritaine department store on the rue de la Monnaie as it's housed in an art-nouveau and art deco building. From the rooftop you have wonderful views of the Seine and the Paris skyline. It takes its name from an old water pump near the Pont Neuf as the pump was decorated with the woman of Samaria giving a drink of water to Jesus. Unfortunately, as the sign says, it's currently closed for security reasons (it will be shut for several years as inspections found it to be a serious fire risk). I had to be content with a reflection of the riverbank in the windows instead.
