Impaled by Vlad...
I've just started reading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova about the gruesome historical figure Vlad the Impaler. Bram Stoker's Dracula was loosely based on Vlad's real life exploits. He would apparently often eat bread dipped in his victims' blood. Interestingly, Wikipedia states that Queen Elizabeth II and her children are descendants of Vlad. So I guess it's fair to say that the royal family are bloodsuckers!
Vlad the Impaler also has some interesting information about Vlad.
